'Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.'
- Ralph Waldo Emerson
I forgot what today was. I woke up like any other morning, made some coffee and started my day. The shop was, just like every other day this past year, amazing. I locked up, got on my bike and rode home. Go figure it was my amazing wife who left me a card of congratulations, reminding me that today was our 1 year anniversary since our quaint little bike shop opened. It was surreal. I know the date by heart, I'd been telling people for months. And, on the day it mattered, I'd forgotten. Like needing to buy toothpaste (I swear I brush my teeth).
I want to thank all of our customers for welcoming our shop into their hearts and bicycle stables. I can say with complete sincerity that each and every one of you make me fall in love with my job and this city on a daily basis. I truly believe cycling can take our amazing region into the stratosphere. We built this little shop for all of you.
I also want to thank Jake, Alex, Chris and Attison for being some of the best people I've ever worked with. You guys make my life infinitely less stressful. Beat Posse for life.
Wil Frierson - what's it like being awesome everyday. I'm guessing Me'Chele is behind some of that awesomeness. Thanks for making a video of our shop. Sorry for being awful at interviews.
MY FAMILY RULES. They've dealt with absent Ryan since this all began and as hard as that's been on me I can't imagine how hard it's been on them. I'm just that cool. Moral support is everything and when you take on a project that alters your life in any direction, trust me, you need every bit you can get.
They say the last is the most important and profound, its the statement to end all statements. Brittany, my amazing better half, has dealt with the immense pressure, stress and fear with the strength and stability I sometimes wish I possessed. She's kept me grounded and focused when I could have easily strayed. She's as much Beat Cycles as anyone and for that I'm completely honored.
We have a long way to go to get where we want to be but the beginnings have been completely humbling. Thank you all for simply being you.
