I'll start this post out with a truth bomb - I was always a skeptic of these bikes. When I first saw fat bikes enter the mainstream market I considered them more of a novelty bike built for us nerds. While I completely understood their purpose I questioned how they would do in our market. Well, last winter we brought some in and within a month sold out of all our inventory. Our customers would come in and tell us stories of their winter adventures and how they always assumed once snow hit in huge quantities riding season was over. No longer. These bikes serve as an outlet not just for mountain bikers wanting to ride snow covered trails but for people who simple don't want to hang their bikes on a hook in the winter - they make year round riding more possible then ever before.
A little inside information - these bikes sell out. Last year, once the final fat bike rolled out the door we were tapped. Our vendors were sold out - and when I say sold out I mean we wouldn't see another until September (meaning the 2016 models).
This season, we prepared ....
So, without further ado I introduce the lineup of the 2016 Rocky Mountain Blizzard.
The flagship in lineup is the Blizzard -50 (50 Below). Equipped with a 1x10 drivetrain, hydraulic disc brakes and a Rock Shox Bluto this bike isn't just ready for snow, its ready for any trail any time of year. (MSRP $2599.99)
Next up is the Blizzard -30. Also spec'd with the same frame tech, a 1x10 drivetrain and hydraulic disc brakes, this model sees a thru-axle rigid fork in lieu of suspension. This is my favorite - I just really love the color. (MSRP $1899.99)
Last, and definitely not least as I think this will be the go to model, is the Blizzard -10. New for 2016, Rocky wanted to make a fatbike with the same, beloved handling of their original models with a lower sticker. Spec'd with a 1x9 drivetrain and mechanical disc brakes the Blizzard -10 will still allow you to capably go "laughing throw the snow" all while leaving a little extra cheddar in your pocket. (MSRP $1099.99) Forgive the singular photo, it started raining just as I started taking pics of this model - its sweet, that's all you need to know.
We've already had a few of these snow dogs roll out so don't wait. Get yours now and never miss another day of riding.
