St. Patrick's Day is a magical day.
When I was younger, St Patrick's day meant church in the morning followed by ventures to various events around town, often times "missing" school, with the understanding we would be home in time for dinner with the family. Now, as an adult (I realize "adult" is a stretch), St. Patrick's Day marks my wedding anniversary. In short, its a day of celebration. If the weather is beautiful, you celebrate surviving the winter. If you see a friend you haven't seen in years, buy them a beer and catch up. Its the best day of the year to celebrate the simple things in life.
With that said, I declare we will be closed on St. Patrick's Day from this year on as a means to celebrate an amazing day with family and friends.
"When anyone asks me about the Irish character, I say look at the trees.
Maimed, stark and misshapen but ferociously tenacious."
- Edna O'Brien
