January is nearing it’s end, which means riding season is that much closer. If you aren’t out riding much these days, then you have plenty of time to start thinking about the season ahead and preparing for your best riding year yet!
We’ve compiled a list of our goals for the 2018 season to get you started with creating your own:
1 | Ride New Places.
The possibilities of adventure on a bicycle are endless. Whether you go all out and plan a whole trip around riding out west or simply picking out new (to you) local trails to hit up on the weekends, branch out. Stretch those legs and find places only your bicycle can get you to!
2 | Sign up for a Charity Ride.
An easy way to get yourself motivated to ride, even on days you think you aren’t up for it, is to set a goal. Many local rides will offer multiple distances, making it accommodating for everyone. So not only do you get to ride your bike, you get to ride with a purpose.
3 | Shake it up and try something new.
If you strictly ride road, why not give mountain biking a try? It will help build up your handling, cadence, and power. Mountain bike already? Riding road will boost your endurance. Heck, why not add a commuter to your collection and ditch the car all summer long?!
4 | Go for the distance.
THIS is the year to push through and put a few extra miles under your belt. If you usually top out at 35 miles, why not take your ride just a little bit farther? Make it an even 50.
5 | Make a new riding buddy/ or convert your non-riding friends.
Riding with people you like isn’t only fun, it holds you accountable. It gets you motivated to get out and ride no matter what. So whether you’re planning that dream route, riding for charity, venturing into a new discipline of cycling, or preparing for that grand century ride, you’ll have company along the way!
Cheers to making 2018 your best cycling year yet!
