For years, Charge Bikes were difficult steeds to come by. Only importing a select few models each year, their brand became both elusive and desired. But alas, the wait is over as Charge Bikes have reached the New World. We are pumped to announce the arrival of a bike we'd wanted since before we opened our doors - we introduce to you, the Charge Grater. The Grater stands as the ultimate urban slayer. For the people searching for a dedicated commuter or a bike to take on the most brutal of urban assaults, the Grater leaves nothing to chance.Read More
Summer - am I right. It's been tough to stay on top of our much loved 'NST' posts so allow me to catch you up to speed on some sweet new gear we've received over the past few weeks.
:: CHROME INDUSTRIES ::
A while back we received a ton of Chrome's all new, fully waterproof, seat and handlebar bags .... and promptly sold out of them. Then Chrome sold out of them. Empty hooks. Well, no longer. We just received some of the hot new KNURLED WELDED HANDLEBAR BAG ($60) and GRAVEL SEAT BAG ($40). These things are perfect for storing gear you can't take chances with - even when the forecast calls for no rain. Made from 600 Denier Poly with a Waterproof PU coating and welded seams, these little bags are a force to be reckoned with.
If you're looking for a smaller bag for shorter excursions around town, look no further then the all new KADET ($80). Built from military grade materials, the KADET is not only extremely durable but sleek in fit and design. Available in 3 colors - BLACK, BROWN & BLUE.
:: LIGHT & MOTION ::
Our 2016 L&M lights arrived - as always, they are incredible. With head lamps ranging from 350-850 lumens, L&M will keep you riding safely well into the night. The new product line offers up some great new colors. The shop favorite - the Urban 850 Trail - built for the mountain biker in your life, the new Trail packs 850 lumen power in a small, light weight package. Also included with the light is a GoPro mount and helmet mount. Win, Win and Win.
:: BROOKLYN BICYCLE CO. ::
This summer Brooklyn released an exciting new model to compliment their already amazing product line, the WYTHE. The ultimate urban bike, the WYTHE incorporates a lightweight chromoly frame, cartridge bearing hubs and the option to ride fixed or free. Not to mention the classic Brooklyn style. This is a must see for people looking for ultimate simplicity and urban chic. We've sold quite a few with more on the way - this bike is sick.
It's been an amazing summer and we still have loads of new stuff not yet posted - best advice, swing by and check out some of our sweet gear. You won't be disappointed.
You can tell alot about a person just looking at their bike. Some people customize through accessories, others choose a frame and piece them together little by little. Soma Fabrications has been a great outlet for some of our customers interested in putting their creative talents to the bike building test. The one thing I've truly loved about each Soma build we've done - John's Rush Project, Craig's Wolverine Project - is the careful selection and attention to detail from each owner. Our job was simple, putting it all together.
Keith started thinking about his dream bike in the fall of last year. He knew he wanted something capable of longer distant rides, all while maintaining a sporty feel for quick jaunts around town. The Double Cross was an excellent platform for the build because of its versatile geometry and hauling capabilities. And so the project began.
Keith knew he didn't want a traditional drop bar build so sizing was critical in maintaining proper handling. Comparing the geometry to a bike he had at the time we were able to pinpoint an ideal size for the type of bar he wanted to use. Once the frame hit the door we started putting it together little by little.
The drive train is spec'd around a traditional 2x9 cross gearing, with a slightly wider range in the back adding to the bikes longer range versatility. Sourcing some of the parts became a tad daunting but after several orders we had everything we needed to complete this classy project.
With a blend of great parts from Soma Fabrications, Interloc Racing Design, Velo Orange, Brooks England, Shimano, Velocity and Continental I'd say this is one unique build. Thanks Keith, for making an otherwise routine winter, interesting.

Well folks, the baseball season has begun and how better to celebrate then by showing off some of our sweet new product.
First up to bat - some sweet ladies gear. The Cannondale Synapse is a must ride for anyone searching for a new endurance road bike. With a vibration killing design, these bikes will keep you comfortable and efficient in the saddle for hours on end. In this week, the Synapse Tiagra, Synapse 105 Disc and Synapse Carbon 105.
Don't worry gents, we didn't forget you. We received the Synapse Tiagra Disc and Synapse 105 Disc - both beautiful bikes.
And finally, we've received our 2015 Bern Unlimited order and did they hit one out of the park with this years product line-up. The first exciting change is the ladies Melrose, a direct response to the Allston (which was one of our top sellers last year). With more ventilation, we anticipate these bad girls will fly out the door. That and the new Berkeley colors make this years ladies selection choice.
Coming off a great year for mens product, Bern added some really great color ways we think will spice up our normal selection. We've added a few colors in the Allston and Brentwood we think will turn some heads.
Enjoy opening day.
Beat Cycles is proud to announce our new partnership with Forest City Portage, handmade messenger bags, backpacks and accessories. I first saw FCP bags at 78th Street Studios and the first thing I noticed wasn't the quality (which is clearly top class) but the idiosyncratic style found in each product. Forest City Portage is a pioneer in the fashion, style and functionality that has become so important to cyclists today.
