When we began planning our expansion we wanted to create special promotions as a thank you to all our customers and the cycling community at large for their continued support, so we stole an idea from one of our vendors and here it is - every Monday throughout our expansion we'll be rolling out super deals that will last the week and then POOF, they'll disappear. So don't hesitate.Read More
Yup - just dropped a mad LOR reference. Shout out. As the weather becomes more favorable for many riders, we've seen a heightened interest in commuting and local trip cycling. The one question we are most commonly asked is how to carry stuff. Lucky for most, we have a great selection of bags to hang on your bike or yourself.Read More
You can tell alot about a person just looking at their bike. Some people customize through accessories, others choose a frame and piece them together little by little. Soma Fabrications has been a great outlet for some of our customers interested in putting their creative talents to the bike building test. The one thing I've truly loved about each Soma build we've done - John's Rush Project, Craig's Wolverine Project - is the careful selection and attention to detail from each owner. Our job was simple, putting it all together.
Keith started thinking about his dream bike in the fall of last year. He knew he wanted something capable of longer distant rides, all while maintaining a sporty feel for quick jaunts around town. The Double Cross was an excellent platform for the build because of its versatile geometry and hauling capabilities. And so the project began.
Keith knew he didn't want a traditional drop bar build so sizing was critical in maintaining proper handling. Comparing the geometry to a bike he had at the time we were able to pinpoint an ideal size for the type of bar he wanted to use. Once the frame hit the door we started putting it together little by little.
The drive train is spec'd around a traditional 2x9 cross gearing, with a slightly wider range in the back adding to the bikes longer range versatility. Sourcing some of the parts became a tad daunting but after several orders we had everything we needed to complete this classy project.
With a blend of great parts from Soma Fabrications, Interloc Racing Design, Velo Orange, Brooks England, Shimano, Velocity and Continental I'd say this is one unique build. Thanks Keith, for making an otherwise routine winter, interesting.
As many of you may have noticed we've added quite a few new products to our selection. As part of our long-term goal to become a commuter/mountain oriented shop in Lakewood, we worked really hard to search out products unique to our region. With that said, we wanted to take a moment to mention a few brands we are extremely excited to bring to the westside.Read More
